Embrace the Dark Side.... Lapua 155 Scenar

Postby Wil on Fri Jan 18, 2008 10:32 am

Greetings gents...

Just wanted to post some load data that works well in my LTR

Win Brass (trimmed & prep'd)
Fed 210 primer
46.4gr IMR 4895
Lapua 155 scenar
2.83 OAL (max mag length)

This shoots very well for me & I only need 32MOA to reach 1K... yup, 32MOA to 1K for a 20" barrel... MV is approx 2835-2840fps

Jedi is runnin em about 3000fps out of his 26" barrel & using 27MOA to 1K

These are real numbers use out at TV... not QL predictions....

as always... this is my load and safe in MY gun... please work up...

Wil, I have been meaning to try those bullets. Currently I have 155 SMK. I wonder if that some load would work with the 155 SMK's?

Have ya'll tried the 155 Nosler Custom Competitions? They were dirt cheap when I ordered them and were a house on fire out of my BAT. I know the listed BC is lower but I only use them for 300 yrd prone matches and was very happy with the results. I may try to see how they do at 1000 this weekend at the NTSD Range. I don't expect them to do better than Scenars... just want to see what they are capable of.

Captain, I have about 30 155 Nolser's that a friend gave me to try. What load did you use?

If on a remmy action I would start at 45.0 and work up.

we had these barrels cut with shallow rifling. Used a reamer that tapers the lands. Getting crazy speeds out of these things. I can squash 208s in the .308 and get 2600 fps with a little more room before I get pressure signs :)

Next time you are at TV I can bring it if you want to shoot it.

Your killing me. If everyone starts using these Scenars I wont ever win again. LOL

Damm great bullets!

I run either a case load of Varget (46.0 with Lapua cases) or 44.0 grains of H4895 at 2.9" for F TR class

Mike

Did you try IMR4895 before the H4895? I was getting a bit more pressure with the H4895 - but teh IMR seems to be more temperature sensitive.
